Busy busy busy!

I've been so busy in my real job that I haven't been able to keep up with my squares!

I plan a massive crochet session to catch up, but with birthdays and Christmas coming up my time is slipping away.......

Thursday 6 September 2012

I am in desperate need of some organisation and direction in my project making! I have SO many ideas that I never follow through, it makes it very easy to become disheartened by it all. I would love to take a whole week off of work to plough through some of the many ideas I have.

I get so frustrated because at work in the office I verge on being too organised and proactive. I would love to transfer this into my home office! I think I'm going to stop buying new supplies, patterns and books until I have completed the following;

Three half made quilts in the office.
Cushion cover for my uhmazingly comfy new sofa friend.
A wearable piece from the countless reams of fabrics I own (peach chiffon dress anyone??!!)
Make up bag from the remnants of my gorge Liberty print cotton (although I do need some felt for this one)

This feels like enough to keep me going to be honest. I love that I now have a fully fledge stash of fabrics at my disposal for whenever inspiration strikes, but it is such a waste to have it all just sitting there collecting dust.

So here's to being more creatively proactive and to filling my life with homemade goodies!

26 years, 52 squares - Week 2 & 3

I've done it! And more importantly it's on time, well one of them is!

The first is last weeks square, and I won't lie, I don't love it. I think that 3 rows of the same colour is just too bulky and much. I added a black border which I think saved it.

I thought about cheating and starting again, but that really didn't feel in the vein of the project. Not every week I have is going to be the best and I can't just start that all again!

Week 3 is my first experimentation with multi coloured wool. I'd not tried it before as I'd thought it was all a bit too dippy hippy for me. Well I'm so pleased I have it a go because I really love the result! It's definitely inspired me for a future projects, particularly presents.

As it happens this week has been pretty good, Lord Henry is in his castle and Lady Charlotte is on her way. I'm so in love with him already that I can't wait for her to arrive.

I have also decided that I am going to start piecing the squares together straight away. Massive projects can really overwhelm me so it's important for me to develop a way to work an get things finished.

So here's to me being productive and setting s**t done and to lots of bunny cuddles!

Love you tons like sticky buns

26 years, 52 square - Week 1

It's late and this is late, but it is here!

My first square for my 2652 blanket. I love it and I love the colours. I made a bit of a rookie mistake by using different size wool, so the finished square is a lot bigger than I had thought and I will in turn now have to make my other squares a similar size, but truth be told, I don't really care, I'm just really happy with the end result.

I've had a really lovely first week of being 26 so for me this will be a great reminder of it.

Now I'm off to sleep to dream
Of the wonders that next week will bring......*vomit*

26 years and 52 squares

Two days ago I turned the grand old age of 26. I didn't think I was that bothered about getting older, I'm one of those people who have a hearty laugh when asked how I felt about getting on.

This was, however until it occurred to me while making my way to my birthday dinner (Hard Rock Cafe - classy from The womb to the tomb baby!) that I had never imagined myself being this old. This really threw me an that feeling teamed with events that have happened recently made me realise I am getting older, and it's happening a lot quicker than I thought it would.

This really isn't a bad thing but If Ferris Bueller taught me only one thing it was that I need to remember to enjoy what's going on around me and do things that make me happy.

With that in mind I have had what I think is a genius idea. Over the past year I have learnt how to crochet a I have loved it. Gaining this small skill has snowballed my desire to be creative again and now you can fin me spending most of my free time sewing, quilting, stamping my way through the day.

Inspired greatly by Manzanita's Granny Square Project I have decided to crochet a granny square a week until I'm 27(argh). I love the idea that I will have gathered twice as many squares as I have years.

I will post pics of the squares each week and I can't wait to share with you the finished article!

Love you lots like Jelly Tots
